The northern yard is located at the Intervale in Burlington just past Gardener's Supply (between brick house and retail outlet).

Directions to the southern yard:

From the south get off I-91N at exit 14 in Thetford. Take a left on Rt 113 and go 11 miles to the Husqvarna shop. The Bee yard is in the field. Look for signs on where to park.

From the north go south on 91 to exit 14 at Thetford . Take a right on Rt 113 and go 11 miles to the Husqvarna shop.

From the west at Chelsea take Rt 113 and go 11 miles to the Husqvarna shop on the right.

Workshop Schedule for Summer 2006

All workshops are on Saturday unless otherwise noted.

April 22 -12 noon – 2:00; First Spring Inspection, Installing Packaged Bees and Nucs; Feeding light colonies, equalizing brood, diagnosis of winterkill

May 6 - 12 noon – 2:00; Spring Management, Swarm control, reversing brood chambers, making splits, supering

June 3 - 12 noon – 2:00; Diseases, Pests, and Parasites, Checking for diseases, evaluating queens, re-queening colonies

Sunday June 11 -10 am – 2:00; Queen Rearing Workshop, Raising queens in the small apiary; South Yard Only; presenter: Michael Palmer

July 22 - 8 am – 3:30 pm; VBA Summer Meeting; A management plan for sustainable beekeeping in Vermont, Michael Palmer; What you should know about Drones and Queens, Setting up a Drone Saturation area – For Sideline Beekeepers Without endless colony numbers, Larry Connor; Setting up and over wintering Nucleus Colonies in Vermont, Kirk Webster

Aug. 26 - Harvesting the crop; Removing honey from the bees. Tips on extracting, packaging, and marketing your crop; Fall Mite treatments

Sept. 16 - Preparing Your Colony for Winter; Feeding light colonies; Medications and miticides; Winter wrapping materials
